The natural history of a disease is the course a disease takes as it progresses. From the time of the first patient visit through diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up, there are many decisions the health care professional and patient must make. These decisions may be based on the patient’s goals and expectations of treatment, medical history and examination, laboratory and clinical tests, and symptoms. Additionally, an understanding of the natural history of disease is essential as it enables the patient and physician to make more informed decisions regarding treatment options.
The Natural History of Disease section will help to inform readers of associated risk factors, signs and symptoms, and the potential risks of medical complications of plaque psoriasis.
